Cloud sighed as he stared up at the sky through the treetops from his seat on the bench; or more like his bed. One leg hung over the edge of it and one arm was placed comfortably behind his head. School was boring as usual. I guess I'm not as good as I used to be. Moving around all the time doesn't help either. Ooo, maybe I should go cause some problems on my beloved motorcycle. At least go out with a bang! he thought, blinking. Cloud rolled his eyes at his own idea, turning his head so he was looking at a large oak tree off to his left, staring at the markings that were engraved into them. Not even he could decipher them, although it was painfully familiar. The area he could remember from long before was more clouded with forest than with benches or a nicely made dirt path or even signs. He remembered tons of berry bushes, of which a few were still around, and dozens of trees ranging from small to slightly large. Turning his attention back to the sky, he sighed once more before he felt his eyes begin to droop. Maybe a nice nap would do before I go cause chaos in the city. Moments later, he fell into a light, quiet sleep.
"This is the best place in the world. I showed my Mommy, so she'd know where we are when we leave the neighborhood. I found it when I got lost once and she had to come find me. Then we agreed that it could be our secret base or something," the blonde boy said, looking over his shoulder as he crawled through the bushes. After seeing the shadowed silhouette following him, he turned his attention back just as he broke through and appeared in a small clearing surrounded by the berry bushes and two large oak trees sheltering them. "Hey, ________, what do you wanna call our base? It can't be girly, either because secret bases are never girly! And we'll make a pact, like a piece of jewelry or something we won't give or throw away, so we won't forget. What do you think, _____?" Why can't I remember...?

i37.photobucket.com/albums/e57/Dark-Sayuri/NinjaPopStaarHIYAH.jpg“It’s beautiful, this is a great view of the lake. Perfect for my sketch project!” Mingzhu cheered happily walking up the benches her stuff collected in arms, she gapped at the wonderful scenery. Makes me wish I could have seen a real park back on Earth. I guess this is the closet I’ll ever get. I don’t remember too much of my childhood except for school for some reason, maybe because I moved around too much within my relatives stay. She thought, going to the far bench to get a clear view of the lake until she spotted some blonde hair poking out of one. “Huh?” Mingzhu went over to find Cloud feeling her eyes glare a hole into his face hovering over him. What the hell is he doing here? And sleeping none of the less! How careless of him… he kinda looks peaceful and innocent though. Maybe I shouldn’t wake him up. “Stupid…” She muttered her eyelids half closed down on him.

Cloud poked an eye open slowly, unknowing to how long he had slept. Not long if the sun is still out like this... he thought, feeling the warmth against his clothing and skin. It was a miracle that he wasn't sweating due to his black clothes he's been wearing all day. With a yawn, he sat up, but it was only a moment later he had noticed Mingzhu. "Holy shit! Don't come any closer!" he burst out, jumping behind the bench clumsily enough so he fell into the bushes. If only I had a damn suit of armor or something. I can't help but feel I'm going to die from her before anything happens at all... he thought, remembering how she had beat him up with her drawing pad and then flicked him in the head with her nails of steel not long after that. He peeked up and over the back of the bench at her, his eyebrows furrowed. "Yeah, uncool to sneak up on someone like that. You probably would have taken advantage of me and beaten me to a bloody pulp if I hadn't woke up. I could tell you wanted to, with that.. that look of evil or something." His icy blue eyes glanced up at his bangs, seeing a piece of leaf sticking in it. Quickly, he plucked it out and immediately looked for his valuable possesion in his pocket. Shit! Where the hell did it go? he thought, knowing he had put the necklace in his pocket. I knew I should have worn it...

It took her a moment to watch everything before she burst out laughing at his stupidity. Mingzhu held her sides using the bench for support laughing brightly- she wiped a tear from her eyes and glanced back at the bush that he sat in. "Graceless is your middle name is more like it. Besides I didn't sneak up on you or plan to beat you up, not my fault you fell asleep on a bench in a public park. What did you think was going to happen, idiot. Unlike you I didn't come here to nap, I got work to do here so if you'll excuse me." She started up giving him the cold shoulder since he so easily accused her to being up to no good, that sounded more like him than her honestly. Stupid jerk, I was only watching him sleep. Ah- that sounded creepy. Never again Mingzhu! Wonder why he had that face when he searched his pocket. Probably lost something that idiot. Taking a moment she pulled another leaf from his hair and smirked down at him, "Nice way to keep your cool by the way. Very smooth towards the ladies I see." Mingzhu let out a playful whistle and went down closer to the lake sketchbook in hand.

Cloud glared childishly at Ming, beginning to search the brush for his lost trinket. "Not my fault your first impression was abusive..." he muttered, pricking his finger on a thorn. With a hiss, he brought it to his mouth, but kept searching diligently. After about three minutes of searching, now panic-stricken, he stood with a growl. "Fucking necklace. I'm never carrying it around anymore once I find it.. If I find it.." Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted something shimmering near the far leg of the bench and looked closer. Aha! he thought, grabbing it and flipping over the bench so he could sit. Yeah.. never carrying it again.. I'll wear it or something. Without a second conclusion, he latched the necklace around his neck triumphantly and sat indian-style, looking at Mingzhu. Damn she draws a lot... I wonder when she started a passion for it..

"Not my fault your first impression was a mindless dolt either but still I forgive you." She smirked to herself laying back on the grass onto her elbows. Feeling Cloud's gaze on her Mingzhu turned around sharply, she couldn't help letting a smile slip when she caught sight of him. "Are you just going to stare at me or actually say something? It's quite creepy and rude to stare at someone so you know." She teased, her eyes fell back on the lake feeling her body tickle with familiarity. I feel like I've been to a place like this before. Is it possible? I don't remember it at least, I can't explain this feeling when I'm here or around that loser now.Quietly she withdrew from the world in her thoughts.
"Hey, why are you crying? Don't cry- girls shouldn't cry ever. Smile for me..." The tiny girl looked up at the shadowed figure wiping her eyes with her robed sleeves, she was outside the courtyard knowing it was the only forbidden place she would be left alone and to find a stranger was frightening and new to her. But still she gave a small smile for his words and stood up in her robes careful not to dirty them from the grass. "What's your name? I'm _____!" The girl blinked her bright crimson orbs at his strange behavior then lit up with a smile again. "I'm Mingzhu...nice to meet you..._____."
Mingzhu shook her head at the weird flashback, she stared back at the lake puzzled. What was that...? Was it because of the lake? It seemed so real too, God- I hate it when flashbacks happen. I can't put the pieces together, they're like a scattered dream. She looked down at her wrist sure enough a certain silver jewel wrapped around it securely. "Hey Cloud, have you been to a real lake back on Earth?"

Cloud blinked a couple of times before arching a brow. "What?" he asked in answer to her own question. When he didn't get an answer, he rolled his eyes and got off the bench, quietly making his way toward Mingzhu. "If you fell asleep, you're really weird.. cause now your elbows are gonna hurt like crazy... Weird woman." Yet even with his words, he didn't get a response from her. Cloud inched around her until he was close to the large oak tree, leaning sideways to look at her face. Daydreaming?! Oh geeze... he thought, sitting on the ground. Yet when she spoke, it almost made him jump from surprise. "Er.. Well, yeah. Once or twice at the least, but I don't really remember that much from when I was on Earth. It was over twelve years ago, you know... But from what I can remember, this one right here looks a lot like it."

"Really? It's beautiful, I wish I could had seen it before I left Earth. I feel like I've been here before. Like déjà vu..." Mingzhu gave a scrunched up face of confusion towards the lake, in the end she gave up with a small smile glancing at Cloud. Her heart fluttered thinking back to earlier when she took him outside of school to sketch him, being so close to him was haunting her mind again. What was that? I'm sick, aren't I? I've got a fever or something that's making me feel like this- better take some medicine when I get home. How come it only happens when I'm around him though? Maybe I'm allergic to him! She rubbed the pink tint of blush from her cheeks hoping it would go away before he'd noticed. "What are you doing here anyway?"

"I'm not doing anything, really. I just thought I'd visit the place because it's on the back of my necklace from how ever long ago it was when I lived here. Just wanted to see what it looked like, then when I got here, I remembered what it used to look like. Big difference-but anyway.. I gotta get myself kicked out because there's nothing better to do. My baby and I are gonna go down swingin'," he said with a daredevil's grin, his icy eyes flashing with a promise. "Always love giving the police a chase. They never liked my motorcycle from the first day I got it. That's why I love it so much." Cloud stood, glancing down at Mingzhu before he crouched beside her and rougly messed up her hair. "Now, stay in school, don't get in trouble witht he authoritives and don't do drugs. None of that will do you any good! Well, unless you want to do those things.. But anyway, if not, just keep that stupid smile on your face and things will be perfectly fine." His words were a slight rush even as he moved away so she couldn't sock him with anything she had again or do brain damage by hitting him in the head.

Why is it all the cute guys I meet are bad boys? Well, it can’t be helped I guess. Heh…I just noticed. Cloud has a special smile…for when he’s happy. He must really love the freedom on his motorcycle. A-Ah! Mingzhu pawed the air supposedly where Cloud’s hands once been on her head and glared at him. “H-Hey! Stupid smile?! Drugs?! Cloud, you jerk! Who do you think I am?! Come back here!!” She shouted, with ease she sprung from the ground and went after him leaving her sketchbook behind. Not daring to let him slip away Mingzhu tackled Cloud the hardest she could to the ground landing roughly on her side with the other half on top of him. “Ow… That wasn’t the greatest idea. Oh, are you okay? Sorry- I didn’t mean to tackle you that hard, just enough to stop you. Cloud?” She shook his shoulder worriedly thinking she had inflicted harm on him thanks to her stunt

Cloud let out a groan after his moment of stun passed, a hand clumsily resting on his forehead. "Jesus woman.. are you really trying to kill me or something?" He tried to force his eyes open against the sunlight peering through the treetops. At the same time, he made out the figure of a girl's face above him, a young one, with a wealth of shining hair and crimson eyes. Wait.. who is that? Mingzhu..? Cloud's vision cleared a little, but he still saw the same young face of the little girl. Cloud... Cloud.. Cloud? Within a blink of an eye, Mingzhu's face replaced the younger one, yet it seemed like a complete replica. Propping himself on his elbows quickly, he stared at her. "Holy shit, woman! You..! You're that one girl from like.. centuries ago! The one I found near the courtyard when I was a kid," he bursted out, his icy gaze mirroring his confusion. How could he have forgotten her? She seemed like the most helpless and lost little girl when he had found her. Had she grown so much since he disappeared?

Mingzhu hovered over Cloud body hands prompted above his shoulders, ready to slap his face until he spoke- confusion was written all over her face from his words. “Huh? Centuries ago? Um Cloud, I know I tackled you hard but I didn’t do it THAT hard ya know. Wait…courtyard? Kids?” She blinked a tingle of remembrance stung her recalling her flashback moments ago. Was…was that really a piece of my childhood memory? So it was real, but how could I forget something like that? Why don’t I remember it- it’s like something’s blocking me from the truth in my mind. Withdrawing her body she sat legs underneath her hands collected at lap, just staring at him wide-eyed lips parted slightly as if she was about to speak. “What are you talking about? We just met at school for the first time today idiot!” Mingzhu covered herself smoothly and folded her arms at her chest giving a blank stare at Cloud. Its just coincidence he’d mention the courtyard, he’s probably thinking of someone else or mistaken his memory for something different. No way he could be that boy, that boy was so…different.

Cloud was taken aback by her answer. He was so sure that she was the little girl he had found sitting alone near the courtyard, crying was it?, and he had so willingly wanted to cheer up. "But I'm serious! You, and the courtyard, just sitting there-I would know, because I was.. there." His words trailed off when he heard how stupid he sounded, trying to persuade her that she had to be the girl he'd become friends with when they were kids. Frustrated and absolutely confused, he hung his head and, with a hand on the back of it, shook his head. "Nevermind. I guess I was just..... Nevermind," he muttered, getting to his feet with a sigh. Maybe he was just imagining things and it was just a dream he'd had all along. Of course, the one he had in the park wasn't the first odd dream of him and the little girl. Maybe.. Maybe it's just someone else's memories that I keep thinking of. Mom and Dad always told me stories when I was a kid so.. yeah, that must be it, he sulked in his mind, shoving a hand in his pocket. "Well, I better get going then.." But instead of leaving right away, he held out his hand to help her to her feet.

“Cloud… I didn’t mean to…” Mingzhu accepted his hand and lifted herself off the ground her upper teeth hooked onto her bottom lip. She stared at his hand her eyes wide seeing a child’s hand there for a moment before her eyes blinked to have everything returned to normal. Not again! What if he’s right? Maybe he is the boy from the courtyard…he seemed so sure of it too. Wait…I remember now, at least some of it. “I always visited the courtyard when I was being held by relatives. The only person in my family that I loved…my grandfather, died when I was about eight and I went to stay with my grandmother then on. I was so alone back then…I don’t remember much since it was a lot for me to take in back then so I had fainting flashes constantly but… a boy really helped me back then, he’d made me smile. You’re right, maybe I was that girl from back then Cloud.” She concluded hugging her arms unsure; gathering her sketchbook from the ground Mingzhu gave him a small smile. “This was an interesting day… I’ll see you around sometime. I need to get going, I have to feed Ying dinner or he’ll have a fit with me again.” It wasn’t she was making up an excuse to escape the awkward moment, Mingzhu just rushed her schedule listing ahead and didn’t want to be late is all.

"Heh, hey, don't worry about it. It could be anything, for all I know... Maybe I've just been hit on the head too many times for my own good," he said with a playful smirk. "Well.. I guess I'll see you around if I don't get myself in trouble any time soon. Take care, all right?" Hesitation built in when he took a step, not wanting to leave until he was sure she was or wasn't the little girl he had befriended. Although she had been a girl, she had also seemed like the only one she could trust, even at such a young age. Shrugging it aside the best he could, he began walking the opposite direction that she seemed to be taking, thinking that it would be best if he had a little time to think in a quiet enviroment instead of going home to a family that wasn't even his biological family.
